Falernia 'Elki' Sangiovese Reserva, Elqui Valley, Chile
Readers rated this wine:
Levity, berries, value.
Elki is a newish label for our market and is made by Falernia, a winery established in 1998 in the northernmost winemaking region of Chile, in the semi-arid Elqui Valley.Sangiovese, the king of Tuscany shows nice character in the soils of Elqui; fresh strawberry mingles with dried cherry, leather, fine spices, dried roses, leather and tobacco. The palate entry is fresh; red fruit, tealeaf, leather and spice flavours are echoed in the mouth. Medium-bodied with good levity, it's a solid red for pastas or pizza.
